Accounts filing requirements and legal obligations

The main sources of company law in Lebanon are:

Articles 844 and 949 of Code of Obligations and Contracts
Legislative decree of 24th December 1942 no. 304 of Code of Commerce
Legislative decree of 5th August 1967 no. 35 (Limited Liability Companies)

All businesses are obliged to keep books and records and to present the financial statements. Books and records ought to be kept in Arabic, French or English.

The SAL (LLC) must have at least one statutory auditor. A complementary auditor is appointed by the Commercial Court and his role is to assist the statutory auditor.
